    Refinishing a trumpet

I've decided to get one of my Olds Recordings re-lacquered. Can any of the Canadian TM posters recommend a shop in Canada that would do a good job?
The horn I'm going to get prettied does not need anything but cosmetic work.

I'm going to ask for the original deep finish, just for nostalgic reasons.

I can't speak for any Canadian technicians, but, since you already know that transport across the U.S. Canadian border is relatively painless and quick, why not send it to the best on the continent? Charley Melk will make it look absolutely like the day that it came out of Fullerton, Ca.. I have seen several horns that he has done and could not find even a minor thing to be upset about. His work is GORGEOUS!!!!!! If it was not, ANA Mendez, the major Olds trumpet and cornet collector would have someone else do his work for him.

    Re: Refinishing a trumpet

I just recently got my Olds Recording returned from Charlie Melk and I think it might be "better" than as it left the factory. I'll try to take some photos this weekend and get them posted for all to admire on Monday. What he has done is truly spectacular. My next Charlie Melk project is going to be a King Liberty of the square brace vintage - matte silver with a gold wash bell interior. I haven't played it much (the valves are grossly out of alignment) so I can't attest to the playing characteristics but, from what I've read here on TM it's worth restoring for both its sound and aesthetic design.
