i just purchased a model 75 selmer paris K-modified trumpet (radial valves) L bore made in 1974 . i bought it off a private trumpet collector and is in immaculateeee condition, with the original case and mouthpiece wrapped up still in the plastic.i've always played Bach but loved selmer horns due to their french craftmenship, not knowing much about them i just wana know whats the most common models and more importantly the most rarest selmer trumpet on the market....

The K is fairly common, and it will say K-Modified on the leadpipe receiver. You'll see Radials also that can be identified by the unusual valve block orientation.

Rare or rarest?? I don't know, but I do not see many balanced action models for sale used. Maybe there's a ton of them out there, and I'm looking in the wrong places.

Congrats on the new axe!

Please attend the Sydney ITG conference in 2010. I would like to try your radial. Will you let us try it out?

Re: selmer paris.. whats the most rare selmer trumpet

I purchased a 1966 Raymond Chabbrich model Eb/D last fall off of Ebay. It's a beautifully made horn, even if the Eb side leaves something to be desired. (An Eb horn with a very out of tune concert Eb arpeggio loses something in practicality.) The D side, however, is something altogether wonderful. I love the horn so much that I've substantially changed rep--Maxwell Davies, Thomson's Sonata da Chiesa, Bach oboe music--in order to play it.

Does anyone know how common the Chabbrich models are/were? The only other D Chabbrich I know of was from an old trumpet forum, where someone reported one stolen in Texas 5-10 years ago. I contacted the poster in the offchance that I ended up with his horn, but I bought mine in the Netherlands, so I'm fairly certain that his just went the way of the pawn shop.
