Thrift Store Find! I posted this story on another trumpet forum board *whisper* Home: trumpetherald.com I told a lady at work that I'm looking for "vintage" horns...well she let me know that she found a "horn" at a local thrift store...So I ran by and found it. It turned out to be an 1958/59 "Olds Studio" Cornet with "Brilliant Bell." They wanted 69 bucks for it, but said that everything in the store was 50% off. So I paid 35 bucks for it! what a deal!

Re: Thrift Store Find! that is where I found my '71 Conn. I've been using it and it has needed work from time to time. Recently had it cleaned again and it works good. but I'm eyeing a smith Watkins cornet, or Getzen cornet... thrift stores are a great place for a deal...but someday...we will want to take the next step and get serious.

Re: Thrift Store Find! I definately do want to sell it! ...the only "problems" are the bell has a slight wrinkle in one spot...No biggie, and the other is the lead pipe is a little dinged up, and bent ever so slightly down. Other than that it could use the typical chem clean etc. Still a beautiful little cornet. I'm not sure if it would be worth posting on eBay or better to post it on here etc.
