| Vintage 1900 Besson trumpet prototype - what's it worth? Hi, I thought this might be a good place to find out about this Besson trumpet prototype I got from my Grandfather. I checked the serial number and according to my research it was made between 1890 and 1900. I was told he payed a whopping $900 for it in 1920. I don't know anything about trumpets and I was hoping to find out what it is worth and possibly sell it. It is in good condition and was overhauled in 1987. I have several different mouthpieces, mutes and accessories. You can see pictures attached in my response post below... Last edited by zorn : 02-07-2007 at 01:26 PM. Reason: Picture links briken |

In 1920? I spoke with a close friend who in 1937 bought a Selmer from France, the same model Harry James was using. He said really saved his pennies to buy it. It cost $175 brand new. -cw- Last edited by Solar Bell : 02-07-2007 at 01:06 PM.

I did check ebay. Not too many vintage Bessons being sold there.
