Vintage Bach Strad

I bought an old Bach trumpet at a yard sale for $15 and I am curious to find out everything possible about this instrument. Here are the facts:

The following is engraved on the bell:

Stradivarius
Model

Vincent Bach
Corporation

NEW YORK 67
U.S.A.

Serial # is 9324 stamped on the 2nd valve casing and the serial number is also stamped on all 3 inner valves
ML is stamped below the serial # on the 2nd valve casing
Rectangle with, V. BACH NEW YORK U.S.A. engraved on other side of 2nd vavle casing

It is goldish in color with silver on the top portion of the valve
casings as well as silver on some of the tubing near the tuning slides.

Has a Bach 7C and what looks like an original Bach 10 1/2 C

The case is the alligator with brown trim, 2 handles, blue felt with
hidden compartment.

The case is musty but in incredible shape...no rips or bad seams.

All valves work great and the overall instrument finish is what one
would expect given the date.

From the Bach website, I gather it was made in the Bronx factory around 1951-52.

Would anyone have a ballpark idea of it's value?

Is 1952-1953 considered a great model/year for the Bach Strads? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

I gather you are probably going to take the info we give you and put it up on ebay. These trumpets are usually good, but I have also played terrible ones.

From what you posted you have all the info needed to list it, but I will give you $30 right now plus shippng. Double your money!

Can you take a picture and post it? That might be the best $15 you ever spent.

Vintage Bach Strad

I'm sorry... I thought we were in the month of May (almost June) already. But it appears we are back to April 1st.

Bip,

Do nothing before you have the instrument appraised by a professional shop. Make that several shops. Or sit back and wait for more humor... you are dealing with trumpet players!
