Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

I hope the pic makes it here, even though it is a lousy one. I could not get the flash on the wife's camera to go off so it is yellowish. This is an old York I just bought, it is silver with gold inside the bell and outside as well. It dates fromm 1914 to 18 as far as I can tell. Other than two small dings this thing looks brand new, I can't tell if it was ever played, well, it has been now anyways! LOL! I was surprised how well it does sound, I only bought it because it was so pretty but was pleasantly surprised!
I am going to keep trying to get better pictures so when my old 80A gets back from Andersons I can post some pretty pics of it too.

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Ok, speak of the devil, the old 80A just got home from Andersons, new valve job, the replate was done around 1973, valves were wore out then. My grandfather bought this horn new, it is a 1921 Conn Victor New Wonder long cornet. The A to Bb mechanism was stripped off before I was born. I got a little better picture of this one, but still trying to figure it out. She looks great to me and sounds even better than she looks!

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Here's my 1949 Buescher 400. Just got it back from Charlie Melk. There were some nasty crinkles in the bell by the valve block, and the leadpipe was rotted out.

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Wow, what is going on at the bottoms of the valves? Is that the way it was made? I like the look of that flaring at the bottom.
Man, these old horns are really pretty things huh?

Some fantastic horns!!

My contribution is one for the brass banders. That profile can only be one brand.
