that's actually Earl's patented spit valve. It was nicknamed "the undestructable valve" or something along those lines, haha!

Some of the restored horn pics on this site are fabulous. I started playing in the early 1950s and the Conn horns in particular really dominated in my area. I still like these horns a lot. A few of my school mates played King or Olds models but for trumpet or cornet Conn probably had 90% of the local market.

I "invested" in this one for several reasons....
Straight balusters
dual trombone water keys
Very early 1950s
Plays brighter than any Olds recording I've ever played
Love that early LA engraving
