Show a guy a shiny horn and he gets a little weird.

Here we go...one of the pictures...New York Bach 67, Serial 8756...putting it, I think(correct me please if I'm wrong!) around 1948.

Well, that's my contribution..now that I can finally contribute to a vintage horn thread. :)

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

I had a college roommate who had a Bach horn that looked so much like that. I think his, though, was built in the early 70's.

Nice...from all the websites I've seen, some serial around 9100 was about 1950, so I assume this is about '48 or so maybe. It needs a cleaning and a small bit of work, but what a player! I've never been that big on Bachs, but this vintage one is amazing.

It's amazing! It's got an awesome sound...buttery and sweet until you light it up..but man, it can scream...I bet this is one to hold on to...

Left to right:

1949 Buescher model 225 "The 400" trumpet (my grandfather's horn)
1939ish Buescher model 220 "Aristocrat" trumpet (spare parts from the factory)
1946ish Buescher model 205 "Aristocrat" trumpet (soon to be lacquered in red with gold slides)
1955 Buescher model 275 "The 400" cornet.

Bluesguy will become famous soon enough
Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Wow lots of sweet horns here!

Here's my 1935 Holton Ideal. I found it on Ebay in an estate auction. It was in "Grandpa's music store and he passed away..." An estate broker was selling it and they didn't really know what they had. I got it for $125 plus shipping! It needed only minor work on the valves because it hadn't been played in years. I play almost every day now and it works just fine and sounds great. Near perfect condition with only a few teeny tiny dents.
