He died a few months before my 18th birthday, so it was the only kind of drink I could have had with him.

I just got it and am planning on having it professionally fixed up.
When she was in junior high my daughter played a Director that looked a lot like yours -- but not as nice. It was from the early 60's (1964 if I recall correctly). We got it on eBay for like 40 bucks, and spent as little as it took to make it play. And play it would. I was amazed-- it simply soured to an effortless double-C.

She moved out a few years back (about a week or so after she turned 18, if you catch my drift) so I no longer have access to it. But until then I would borrow it just to show people (mainly kids) that it didn't take a "new silver trumpet" like they all wanted to make really good music.

Hey! I have one of those. I like to play it way loud.
What is a TONK? Is that short for TONEKING?

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

My 3 top horns I use. The silver horn is a 1952 Holton Revelation 48. The trumpet on the left is a 1990 Bach Stradivarius with a 37 bell. The horn on the right is a 1975 Bach Stradivarius Flugel horn, which I've already posted.

. . . and just back from my favorite shop, my '54 Martin Committee. A bit hard to see from the photos, but it's raw brass, satin finish, and for contrast, the interior of the bell is polished. My shop guy took a little creative liberty with this, and I must say, I like it. Presents a very cool image when seen straight on.

54Martin

(I may get some "finger wagging" from my teacher for this.)

Are those vintage sunglasses? Very cool image!

My music teacher said if you have time to breathe, you have time to play your horn.

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Can anyone tell me more about this horn? It is a York Custom Model, no bell wire, low 30xxx serial numer, upside-down finger ring on 3rd valve.

Best,
TH

Cool Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Hey! My new horn!

1927 Conn 22B - Bad Boy! I think my mother would rather I had a new 27 year old law student girlfriend.

Anybody like it?

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Well, yeah, as a matter of fact I do like it but . . . can you post some pictures of that 27 year old law student while you're logged on?
