| Who Won the 1948 Brass S2 King Super-20? Hello to all the King Super-20 Fans. Someone recently won a Brass 1948 S2 King Super-20 Trumpet off E-Bay with serial #289873. I have a Brass S1 King Super-20 with seial# 288176. If anyone on the T.M. was the winner. Please let me know. I am curious to know what type Brass valve guides and spring set up your horn has. Like the above S2, my S1 does not have the finger slide hook on first valve. Everythng same except bore size and bracing on main slide. My S1 Super-20 has single valve guides inside a slotted upper valve stem and springs ride on top inside the slotted upper valve case. Very similar set up as my 1948 King Master Cornet. The only differance is the type brass valve guides used. The King Master had the triple slotted type guides. My 1948 S1 Super-20 has only one slot and single brass guide. A little later King switched to the outer round single brass valve guide with spring on outside as well. The Valve Rebuild kits for all these later King Trumpets and Cornets, can be bought today off E-Bay from BandRoom1. Ole Lou I hope you read this. I need some info. from you older Music Techs. That worked on a plenty of these like this S1 I have. Is there a Valve rebuild kit available with the correct Nylon Valve Guides for my older S1 Super-20? Maybe also a rebuild valve kit for my 1948 King Master Cornet serial#284528 with the Nylon triple type guides etc. Calling on all Music Techs that are on our T.M. site for Any info. for good or worse. I really like this old Horn it has a great sound. My be very wrong, but it appears to have a seamless one piece bell. Can not see a seam anywhere. I have had good luck with these rebuild kits that have the Nylon guide replacements. Quiter, faster, smoother valve action with no side play or wiggle. Thank you all for any reply or info. |
