![]() | Info Needed: Windsor/ELKHART-IND./U.S.A. Trumpet I recently acquired the following trumpet: Windsor/ELKHART-IND./U.S.A. Valves are stamped with the appropriate number for each valve Serial Number stamped on middle valve casing: R10465 I am attaching two pictures of the horn. horn-u-copia indicates that it is made by Conn. Would you agree, and can you give me any other information? It seems like a fine all silver plate trumpet with great sound and valve action. I am hoping to get some more history as I love to know the horns I play! Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. Last edited by prinmancz52; 11-30-2007 at 11:59 PM. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Windsor/ELKHART-IND./U.S.A. Trumpet Conn like most of the major companies back in the old days, made tons of stencils . You should be able to identify you horn by spending some time at this wonderful site. The Conn Loyalist Many Conn stencils were also derived from their Pan American line too, so look there as well. Serial numbers may follow the Conn\Pan American lists, and may not . Toobz |

![]() ![]() | Re: Windsor/ELKHART-IND./U.S.A. Trumpet Hi, Your Windsor could indeed be a "stencil" model made by Conn such as the Pan American which was made by Conn. Those trumpets were sold by Sears Roebuck and other businesses beside music stores. In the case of Pan American, I believe they were Conn's "B" horns but played well. I had opportunity to play a circa 1930's Pan American trumpet recently. The valves were wonderful and the tone was very good. How does your Windsor play and sound? Best wishes, Lloyd |

| Forte User | Re: Windsor/ELKHART-IND./U.S.A. Trumpet There is also info on Horn-u-copia that Windsor name was associated with types of Buescher instruments, and also the Elkhart Band Instrument Co., which merged with Buescher in 1928. |

![]() | Re: Windsor/ELKHART-IND./U.S.A. Trumpet The Windsor valve action is great and the sound is a bright and clean sound. It was not a student model instrument. It sounds a lot like a king Liberty 2B model trumpet. I really like it and got it for $48.00. The only ding is in the crook and it should come out well. The finish is in great shape. prinmancz52 |
