Anonymity on the Web

I recently received a couple PMs from a guy who was not pleased with a post of mine.........BFD! I absolutely hate the practice of guys hiding behind pseudonyms while throwing barbs at me.
I have been a pro for over 50 years and I believe in my assessments.
Google me!
Cowards make me sick!

Re: Anonymity on the Web

Given the volume of bone-headed comments it's a wonder we have any Artists in Residence left.

Re: Anonymity on the Web

Wilmer,

Don't pay attention to the unknown.

I've heard stories of some well know players having long discussions with nay sayers only to find out the person on the other end was a 7th grader on line during study hall. We value you and your life experiences you've been sharing. Great knowledge and insight to the world of music.

You've been able to make a living doing something you love. Not many can say that.

Take care,
WL

People aren't appreciative of the wealth of knowledge that this forum contains. Instead, some choose to poke and jab instead of absorbing and asking intelligent questions.

Someone who doesn't appreciate the wisdom and experience you bring to the forum isn't mature enough to be here.

Re: Anonymity on the Web

As much as it is tempting just to delete pots that are suboptimal, an open forum needs to be just that - open. We have everything starting with the lazy who want to get spoon fed everything and will ask the same question as 20 others on the same page - because they are too lazy to read. The troublemakers come and go, sometimes with help. Once that I have figured out the agenda of the poster, we can go to business. If they are "lazy", perhaps with a critical reply, if they are troublemakers, with a PM warning. No one said that we all have to agree, but if you want to argue, then please, with facts not garbage.

All in all, we have a well balanced crowd here and I am having a lot of fun, even with the occasional "stinker".

Many times a Ban is only a wake up call, not intended to ridicule or be a public spanking. Many are not able to understand that and go into the destructive mode. I have developed a short fuse on that. Those posters don't last long.

I do not use my real identity because of a couple of internet events including stalking and an attempted scam on my estate. I would hope that my Internet Anonimity is not grounds to ignore me.

Morris,
everybody can disagree with Wilmer, you just need to have the facts together. Once you have those facts though, it is pretty hard to disagree. Wilmer has earned his chops and invested to get where he is today. His credits bear out that he made some very wise choices (pun intended) very early.

If no one is allowed to disagree, it would be easy just to delete conflicting posts. When we do delete things here, it is not the disagreement however.

Troublemakers do end up with a short stay, or brief periods of "read only" activity. I think YOU know what I mean.

Re: Anonymity on the Web

"Throwing barbs" and disagreement are two very different things. Though I may post some extreme opinions occasionally, people with such credential like Wilmer deserves at least some respect for what they achieved Everybody can disagree with anyone and do it respectfully, if not - probably this guy has no place in this forum. I agree with Wilmer initial posts - if you want to confront someone and do it anonymously - this is coward, and make me sick too.
