![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Here's a quick test. I knew some of the guys, Jimmy Rushing was the singing sax player. I don't think he played the instrument, though.I recognized Earl Warren, the lead alto player. Papa Jo Jones, he sure looked young in this video, and the rest of the "All-American Rhythm section," Walter Page and Freddie Green were rock solid. Buck Clayton was back there in the trumpet section. Who were the other guys in the band? http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...e/video/138939 Wilmer

I'm more an audio than a video guy,but I'm beginning to love this joint and the videos provided. I hope I'm not asking too much but do you have one or more of the Count & his Octet featuring Buddy DeFranco ? The producer (Ralph Gleason) reminds me of myself - sitting, listening, and gyrating to that swinging sound while the players work up a sweat ! Best regards, KJ

Just yesterday (Pentecost Sunday),my wife dragged me to church and the Priest,a lover of Bebop looked my way and made reference to Matthew 24:31 a verse that is forever etched in my memory since 1962 after seeing Dizzy & Clark at Carnegie Hall... "And he shall send his Angels with a great sound of a trumpet...."

Earl Warren is seated between Jimmy Powell (alto)and Jack Washington (baritone). To the right of Jimmy Rushing is the legendary Don Byas (tenor). Buddy Tate (tenor) is seated to the right of Jimmie Powell. In addition to Buck Clayton, the trumpet section includes: Big Ed Lewis;and my man Harry "Sweets" Edison." Don't recognize the cat next to Harry (it could be Al Killian who predates me). The bassist is Walter Page. Don't know the trombone players since none appear to be Al Grey,Henry Coker,and/or Benny Powell. In exchange for a Junior's (Flatbush Ave) "cheese cake" I'll appreciate if you post a video of Mr.Basie's trumpet section that included: Thad Jones,Snooky Young,Wendell Culley, and Joe Newman. Arrivederci

Best regards, KJ
Clark Terry, with a wavy process, and Wardell Grey were in that band. It must have been hot! Wilmer
Yeah Man - Since the early 60's my dad told me of the Count's Octet that also included CT & Wardell and the heat they generated almost burned down PARIS.
