Hi Wilmer,

Just wondering if you knew who played lead (and the other parts) on the original cast recording of A Chorus Line?

It's a gorgeous sound, whoever it is!

Does anyone know of a site that might list the trumpet players from various cast recordings?

Bob Millikan played lead. He is surely a giant of a player that few have heard of.

It would be nice to know who played on some of those classics like" South Pacific".... etc.
That's a good project. Not many of the old Broadway survive today.

Ernie was the lead player on the first hit I played in NYC. We were the trumpets in "A Little Night Music." The show had less than 150 notes in the almost three hours, but it was an unforgettable experience. Stephen Sondheim and Jonathan Tunick were magnificent in the writing and scoring of the show.
Ernie played the biggest mouthpiece I have seen a commercial player use.
It was much bigger than the Schilke 24 The whole show was in waltz time. It is still one of my favorites.

I saw Ernie's mouthpiece once. It was equal to a "shot glass".
As I recall, he really "screwed it" onto his "chops".
Excellent player.
