Coming to Pittsburgh,Pa

A WISE MAN once wrote that NYC is a great place to hang.
Althought I take no exception with his remarks,I now ask:
What about the 'BURGH ?

4) Dec 06-09,2007 - Randy Weston.
5) Feb 28-March 2,2008 -"MANY CULTURES: ONE VOICE" Celebration Concert.
6) March 27-30,2008 - The CHICAGO JAZZ ENSEMBLE led by JON FADDIS.

Yes,Indeed !
After Bill Strickland build the Guild, the Ashby brothers (Jay & Marty)
set forth on a crusade that now surpasses the great contributions made by Norman Grantz and George Wein.

In addition, both Jay (trombone) & Marty (guitar) are excellent musicians.

Contrary to all that talk around the HUDSON;THREE RIVERS plays second fiddle to no one.

The best is yet to come.
Arrivederci

This is great!!! The manchester craftmans guild is a favorite of mine. I try to hit as many programs as I can. They really do an incredible job of bringing first rate jazz to the Burgh'. And they provide the performer with a great venue and fantastic crowd to blow too.

Hey Don:
With the right knee due for a replacement within the near future,I feel like a one legged man in an ass kickin' contest.
The HILLS in the 'Burgh are alive with the sounds of music.
As a matter of fact, here is the recent release of DUQ (90.5) top 20 Jazz CDs in the CITY of CHAMPIONS:
1)Bob Mintzer Quartet - In the Moment
2)John Fedchock New York Big Band - Up and Running
3)The Department of Good & Evil (featuring Rachel Z).
4)Robert Glasper - In My Element
5)Bill Charlap Trio - Live at the Village Vanguard
6)Pat Metheney & Brad Mehldau - Metheney/Mehldaue Quartet
7)Sara Lazarus - It's All Right with Me
8)Jimmy Ponder - Somebody's Child
9)Thomas Marriott - Both Sides of the Fence
10)Various - The Untold Story of Billy Strayhorn
11)Kurt Elling - Nightmoves
12)Michel Camilo - Spirit of the Moment
13)Patti Austin - Avant Gershwin
14)Morrie Louden - Time Piece
15)Wayne Bergeron - Plays Well with Others
16)Randy Crawford & Joe Sample - Feeling Good
17)David 'Fathead' Newman - Life
18)Tierney Sutton - The Other Side
19)Jimmy Heath Big Band - Turn Up the Heath
20)Kenny Werner - Lawn Chair Society.

Like I said before,Pittsburgh,Pa is a great place to hang and I'm living proof !

Live well,laugh often,love much.
