Fun clip... geez, to see all those great players looking so young, all at the top of their games. The plunger solo was my favorite part. Totally involved with what he was doing. Thanks, Wilmer.

It's a clip from a CBS TV show to honer Duke Ellington. This is at the end of the show. Before that are great performances of Sarah Vaughan, Roberta Flack, Sammy Davis, Louis Bellson, Count Basie, Chicago, Peggy Lee, Aretha Francklin, Jo Williams, Ray Charles, Chicago, Billy Eckstine and many others.

It's a great show!!!

Re: Cootie, Clark, Ernie, Snookie and Cat!

wow!! That made my day! Amazing playing and the strings could even clap on 2 & 4

Seriously, Clark Terry is on fire, Cat Anderson's A over Double C on Satin Doll is just scary, and Cootie has so much feeling in his playing of a melody he's probably done 10,000 times that it could have been written the day before - the coolest part for me though, is seeing Duke's expression of gratitude and humility as the guys lay it all out there... obviously a truly meaningful moment for him

It looks like Bob Brookmeyer was covering the valve trombone book for Juan Tizol -- cool.

Sorry -- reloaded during a slow server response in the midst of a POSTDATA action. What a maroon. I'd delete the duplicates, but that doesn't seem to be an option despite what the edit button promises.
