Dave Douglas

I am on my way to Dave's masterclass. I am going to try to make all the masterclasses at Yamaha this week.
Allan Colin was at the Lew Soloff masterclass. We talked about the possibility of me teaching there at the Colin studio........I think I will.

Just got back from Dave's masterclass.......WOW!!!!!
Dave talked about his evolution as a trumpet player/ composer/ creative musician.
Laurie Frink was in attendance. Laurie was one of Dave's teachers.
It was quite a presentation. You missed a major artist speaking about his art.
Kevin Cobb is tomorrow's artist...I am not going to miss his talk.

Laure Frink played along side my music teacher, Mike Carubia, at Carnegie hall with Gerry Mulligan.

Sorry it took me so long to reply
Dave at that class talked about how he arrived at where he is today......that was in 2005. He talked of his studies with Laurie Frink. He talked of what influenced his playing and writing. It was a fascinating look into the heart and mind of an artist. I wish you had been there! I won't try to go any further because I'm sure I would get things jumbled.

I played at the Trumpet Nation Concert on Saturday. There were 19 players on that small stage. There were trumpets, cornets, a flugelhorn, a bass trumpet and a couple shofars. Dave is now playing cornet.......I wonder if the FONTmusic will get a new, revised name
