I think this video just proves the point that lead players shouldn't just know how to play loud and high. Jon Faddis was incredibly lyrical in this video.

Wilmer did you ever play with Langston Fitzgerald. I studied two years with him after you left Morgan State. The thoought of you two heavy weights in the same section

Nope.
Fitz is a good friend, he joined the Baltimore Symphony in 1971, the season after I left.

Here is a picture of them when they perform with the West Point Concert Band, Jazz Knights & the Hellcats @ the West Point Trumpet Conference back in March! They performed God Bless America. A truly special moment for all in attendance!
