Dominic Derasse

I did a sub yesterday with a brass ensemble named Hora Decima. My buddy Dominic was there. Dominic is a NY secret. He is one very baaaaaaaaaad trumpet player He played most of the first trumpet/piccolo parts and I played a lot of Eb trumpet parts. Dominic is playing "110 in the Shade," he sounds fantastic!
Some of the stuff we played was from the Boulder Music Group, it wasn't easy. These guys in Hora Decima are great readers. It was a blast.

Re: Dominic Derasse

Wilmer, it was great to finally meet you and hear you yesterday. I really enjoyed playing next to you and had a great time.

To the readers, yes Dominic is a special trumpet player. He is absolutely amazing on the piccolo and equally great on the bigger horns. And also know that Wilmer himself is a wonderful player.

Re: Dominic Derasse

About two weeks ago I went to see an annual concert this group does in NYC.......my friend Dave Schneck is also in the trumpet section.

In speaking with Dave after the concert, I was commenting on Derasse's picollo playing. When you hear him on that picollo you surely know that you are listening to something special.

Re: Dominic Derasse

Hi Wilmer,

I was walking down W 53rd St in Manhattan yesterday, and walked right by Charles Colin publishing. I haven't been there in about 10-15 years. It is pretty much the same. I was flipping through the new trumpet books.

I picked a copy of Allan Colin's "Piccolo trumpet in the 21st Century." The book was edited by Dominic Derasse. He also included a forward, warm up and instructions to use the book.

I haven't been playing much piccolo trumpet the last few years and have recently decided to get the chops back together. I will use this along with the stuff i have always used, Arbans, Getchall, etc. to build back my technique and sound.
