Once in a while I have to take a boatload of prednisone which causes my lips to swell -- i have a cupid's bow the size of a NY sirloin BTW

Re: Going backwards: lip ripple and no breath

Just following up my own post to keep you informed:
since getting rid of that particular medicine from my system, the lip buzz has completely disappeared and my range has come back to about Eb above C above the staff ...

I think the lip buzz made me tense up in all sorts of ways as well as just making the horn sound awful (to me) ...

I've done lots of long slow quiet studies, gradually just building through scales &c, and now it's all sounding like something worth listening to ... now I just have to learn to play real music!

I your sound sucks or there's something about what you're doing that you just can't figure out then I take a break. I would suggest not touching the horn for 3 to 5 days.
I can't explain why, but the body (and mind) seems to reset itself.
Once you start back, work on your use of air and pay close attention to physical tension. You'll be amazed how much force and tension it doesn't take to play really well.

By the way, which Carnegie Hall - NYC or Pittsburgh,Pa

Carnegie Music Hall,Pittsburgh,Pa
The 2,000-seat hall hosts the Carnegie Performing Arts program jazz and classical music concerts, and is the home of the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society, the Mendelssohn Choir, the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh and the River City Brass Band.
