How good are you?

Come December 21, 2009, I will be 73.
I play only what I wish to play these days, but, I don't feel that I have lost much on the horn. Yes, I play with dentures. Yes, my vision is not what it used to be, but I can still cover the repertoire with confidence.....I memorized most of it when I was a kid
I am going to start working on the Brandenburg, I haven't played it in years.
It can be done.
Wilmer

Re: How good are you?

Hey Wilmer,
that sounds like a GREAT project. I am sure you will not have a problem finding some qualified help for the other parts.

It's attitudes and work-ethics like Wilmer's that make centenarians!

Not as good as you are, never will be.

Re: How good are you?

Wilmer, you have taught us that "good" is not about technique, but about character and musicianship; being able to sit in any chair with dignity--even "the hot seat." These have become part of the Vulganowerkethic.

Thanks for helping us to define our craft!

This is only partly true. I was taught that a technical issue can be a reason for changing the interpretation....so one normally should be able to do everything written in a piece before ever thinking of making music. My 0.02$
