![]() | Quote: Thanks Jerry ! Howard is one of those trumpeters who excels in "Live" performances. I have a Sept 27,1947 recording titled "Mayhem in Manhattan" where in my humble opinion,Howard burned down the house with his performance on Perdido. It's a Norman Granz staged Midnight Matinee at Carnegie Hall and the band included: Illinois Jacquet,Joe Filipelli a/k/a Flip Phillips, tenor saxophones; Bill Harris, trombone;Hank Jones, piano;Ray Brown, bass;Jo Jones, drums.
