I have to say it!

With the exception of the first trumpet, Mom picked it, I have tried and selected EVERY other trumpet I owned.
I have never understood all the questions on the internet about which horn to purchase. I know what I like better than any other trumpet player. I have played hundreds of horns.......I know me, I don't need a committee to select my horns. Get out there and do your own research, you might find YOUR perfect horn.

If you have only dated Jennifer Aniston you may still wonder what is it like to date Angelina...Some prefer to ask Brad than try to date Angelina ...And if you don't know what you are searching for (which is often the case with beginner trumpet players) both Angelina and Jennifer are good enough...but they will probably never get a date with any of them

If Nat Adderley were alive today,I'm sure he would advocate the selection of the mouthpiece over the horn, regardless of its color and brandname.

Most Craftmen who promote a certain brand name are precluded from saying they got their axe FREE,from the instrument/company they are promoting.

Re: I have to say it!

For the experienced player, Wilmer's advice is Wise, as usual.
:)

For inexperienced players it can be helpful to get advice about which horns are most
likely to work well in a variety of playing situation.

For most trumpet enthusiasts who have developed their ears, the right question
to ask is, "What trumpet do I enjoy playing the most?" Does it help me achieve the
sound I want and need? If so, that's the one to buy.

Re: I have to say it!

Watch out, guys - the next thing we're gonna see will be ads on Internet pages - "Over 40? Looking for trumpet match-ups in your area? Click here to see what trumpets are on line, eager to meet people just like you..."

www.trumpetmatchupsonline.com

Also look for the link to European, South American and Asian Trumpet Match-Ups....

Re: I have to say it!

Wilmer, your point is especially valid when you consider that you can have two of the same make and model of horns and they can play very different. I have found this to be especially true of older vintage horns. I agree that it's best to play any horn you buy-every player is different as well and what works for one person may not be ideal for the next player.
