| MCG 22nd Season-9/08-5/09 MCG JAZZ 22ND SEASON — Jazz for Everyone” March 19, 2008 (PITTSBURGH)….The MCG Jazz 22nd season will have something for everyone, with over 16 headliners! From one-night-only performances with Blue Note Records 70th Anniversary – On Tour and Spyro Gyra and multiple weekend shows by Michel Camilo and Take 6, to five back-to-back concerts by Chuck Mangione and John Pizzarelli. The series will feature jazz vocalists Tierney Sutton and Kurt Elling; Latin Jazz artists Poncho Sanchez and Luciana Souza; contemporary musicians Yellowjackets with Mike Stern, Martin Taylor and Gerald Clayton; and the straight-ahead sounds of the Jimmy Heath Quartet, Toshiko Akiyoski and the Brubeck Brothers Quartet. There will also be a very special tribute to Pittsburgh’s own Ray Brown with Christian McBride, Benny Green and Greg Hutchinson. New this year are dinner and show packages. MCG Jazz is partnering with Artria’s Restaurant (PNC Park – North Shore) and the Omni William Penn Terrace Room (downtown) to offer dinner packages available through the MCG Jazz box office. Patrons have the opportunity to choose from a pre-packaged concert series, or create their own by selecting from the 16 available artists. Says Marty Ashby, Executive Producer of MCG Jazz, “Our patrons here at MCG have asked for more jazz artists, more weekend performances and more packages - and we have done just that - twice the number of performers! With our expanded jazz education initiative, having all of these legendary artists in town to work interactively with students and adult audiences will make for a very powerful and exciting year.” Subscriptions for the MCG Jazz 2008 – 2009 season are on sale now. Please call the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Box Office at 412-322-0800 for more information or visit MCG Jazz - Home .
