MNOZIL...Dream Team of Brass

The true international ‘Dream Team’ of Brass is Mnozil from Vienna, Austria. As anyone who heard their US debut last week in Glassboro, New Jersey at the ITG conference will attest, this is a pure brass chamber ensemble at the highest level in the world right now. I first heard this group on a tour that I did through Europe last fall where they are the hottest brass ticket around. Everyone told me, “Yes, yes, the CD’s are great, but it is the live show that you must see”. Well, I saw it then and was totally impressed. After our respective concerts in Germany, we all hung out for three days and I can assure you that this group gets it. They are virtuosic, musical, funny and understand how to work an audience without the use of a microphone. I flew out a day early from Los Angeles on my way to Kentucky just to hear them this week and sat with no less an authority than the great Doc Severinsen who said to me, “the ITG and America has never seen a show like this before…this is brass theater at it’s finest”.

Every player in Mnozil is a true virtuoso on their instrument. There are simply no weak links and this gives them musical and rhythmic freedom to do whatever they want. They also understand that EVERYTHING you do on stage is observed by an audience. We are not only in the business of playing concerts, we are in the profession of presenting concerts and that includes the visual impact of what we are doing.

Mnozil has set a new standard for brass chamber groups to aspire to…and it’s about time!

I agree, this is the best show I have EVER been to. All the players are world class. They are FUNNY PLUS!

They really need to do a US tour.

I just ordered their DVD this morning. You really cannot get it from their site. It can be purchased for the US at www.euphonium.net/

US users will have to order the NTSC version.
They accept PayPal

THe MUSICAL highlight of the ITG!

These guys were fantastic. One of the best concerts I've ever witnessed/heard. And you must SEE it to fully appreciate it. Their performance inculdes ALOT of theatrics, 4-part singing, comedy, and dancing, all while maintining astonishing musicality, purity, accuracy, technique, and oh yeah...did I mention these guys have CHOPS? Like iron, these guys are. They never get (or shoiw, anyway) fatiugue, it seems. Even after a demanding peerformance like that, the lead trumpeter went down to the ITG jam and nearly blew the windows out of the place. I hope they can come to the States again so more can enjoy them.

Doc couldn't say enough good things about Mnozil. It would be great if they could squeeze in a US tour. Doc, thinking to have them on one of his concerts, asked about their availability. Mnozil is booked solid for the next 2 years!

My MNOZIL BRASS DVD came today!!!

I just stayed up after the gig to watch it.

It is FANTASTIC! Very much like the ITG concert.

It also features behind the scene footage and the history of the Mnozil Brass.

The interviews are in German...I believe there are English subtitles, but Karen wanted to hear it in German, so she translated as it went along.

Anyway, pick it up, it is great!

Thomas Gansch is my new trumpet hero!!!!

oooooh, you suck. I ordered a DVD last week, hasn't come in yet.
I wonder how many people couldn't refuse ordering the DVD after seeing the performance??

I already had their DVD, it's one of the best brass ensembles around. Thomas Gansch's brother also plays in a nice brass ensemble: the Austrian Brass. Totally different music but also very good.

I hope to write a review about the Thomas Gansch horn, I already played it shortly on the Franfurter Messe. It's a funny looking horn!
