[/quote] It has been said that there is no best in music, that you can't say that Dizzy was better than Miles or something, and normally that would be right. Except for Tatum. He WAS the best! And Eddie Daniels. << Michael McLaughlin Agreed ! Unfortunately and like most big band players,they (sidemen) never received the credit they duly deserve. EDDIE is my home boy who I knew since his days at Brooklyn College. I also knew he was going to grow into a giant after seeing him sit between Jerome Richardson and Pepper Adams at the Village Vanguard early 1966. During that period I recall him playing the Tenor & Alto. Eddie was also a hoopster and I wasn't surprised when he later penned a song titled "SLAM DUNK." BTW,Jerome was a master craftsman/reedman.
