Only In the NYC Subways!

Just thought I would share a funny story and a great listening recomendation:

Yesterday on my way to a gig I took the NYC subway entrance on 42nd to get onto the E Train towards downtown. If you go there you will listen to one the most beautifull trumpet sounds by a player who is there all day playing along with a play-along. This guy used to play with Harry James and his tone is just amazing. Highly recomended listening and it will only cost you a $2 token and gratuity of course.

As I grew closer to the player I realized he was an old friend and it shocked me to see him playing while sitting in a wheelchair. The funny part of this begins when the player recognized me. He stops playing and suddenly jumps right up from his wheelchair. A crowd of about 5 on-lookers was momentarily as surprised as I was, when he walks up to me and gives me a huge hug!

All of a sudden, an older lady who had just given him a dollar looks at us and yells "Oh my God, its a miracle!"

Only in a NY Subway!

I know it,s not horn related........

Funny thing happend to me today.
I ran out of gas on the freeway, good thing it was 20ft from a highway phone.
The lady at the other end of the phone asked if i needed a tow truck,
i said yes please i ran out of gas.
She said it would be about two hours!
So im waiting buy my truck and a motorcycle cop rolls up on me.
He asked if i was ok, i told him what happend and that i was late for a session.
He looks left to right, then say,s get your gas can and get on back of the bike!
My dear friends @TM, If only you could have seen the looks on people,s face,s as we passed them by.........A brother with long dreds on the back of a police motorcycle, holding a gas can on a round trip to get gas was pretty cool indeed! just try and picture that!
Just thought i,d share.

I've always wanted to play trumpet in the streets/actually a public park. Actually the corner of the park where Mr. Bean played the saxophone for money to give the other saxophonist. Yea, what a crazy dream.

Actually playing outdoors for tips is one heck of a stamina test. A couple of years ago a friend of mine who had a shop in the village asked me to play in front of his place with a tip jar. Two hours and $10 dollars later I could taste the metal. Next thing you know, I am singing along with the Jamie Aeborsold I brought with me....Not too much later, as my singing chops started to go, I found myself dancing with the Aeborsold....For some reason the tips stopped at that point!

Now THAT IS a funny picture!

I wonder what the local citizens thought about that!

Was it a big ol' Harley or one of them rice burners they use out there?

Either way it's a cool picture in my mind!

What I wanna know is.... how the heck did you manage to run out of gas, Clarence? The gas gauge busted? Leak in the fuel line? Too much use of the right foot? Need your ride pimped out?
