| Only In the NYC Subways! Just thought I would share a funny story and a great listening recomendation: Yesterday on my way to a gig I took the NYC subway entrance on 42nd to get onto the E Train towards downtown. If you go there you will listen to one the most beautifull trumpet sounds by a player who is there all day playing along with a play-along. This guy used to play with Harry James and his tone is just amazing. Highly recomended listening and it will only cost you a $2 token and gratuity of course. As I grew closer to the player I realized he was an old friend and it shocked me to see him playing while sitting in a wheelchair. The funny part of this begins when the player recognized me. He stops playing and suddenly jumps right up from his wheelchair. A crowd of about 5 on-lookers was momentarily as surprised as I was, when he walks up to me and gives me a huge hug! All of a sudden, an older lady who had just given him a dollar looks at us and yells "Oh my God, its a miracle!" Only in a NY Subway! |

| Mezzo Forte User | I know it,s not horn related........ Funny thing happend to me today. I ran out of gas on the freeway, good thing it was 20ft from a highway phone. The lady at the other end of the phone asked if i needed a tow truck, i said yes please i ran out of gas. She said it would be about two hours! So im waiting buy my truck and a motorcycle cop rolls up on me. He asked if i was ok, i told him what happend and that i was late for a session. He looks left to right, then say,s get your gas can and get on back of the bike! My dear friends @TM, If only you could have seen the looks on people,s face,s as we passed them by.........A brother with long dreds on the back of a police motorcycle, holding a gas can on a round trip to get gas was pretty cool indeed! Just thought i,d share. |

| Actually playing outdoors for tips is one heck of a stamina test. A couple of years ago a friend of mine who had a shop in the village asked me to play in front of his place with a tip jar. Two hours and $10 dollars later I could taste the metal. Next thing you know, I am singing along with the Jamie Aeborsold I brought with me....Not too much later, as my singing chops started to go, I found myself dancing with the Aeborsold....For some reason the tips stopped at that point! |

I wonder what the local citizens thought about that! Was it a big ol' Harley or one of them rice burners they use out there? Either way it's a cool picture in my mind! -cw- | |
