Out To Lunch

This afternoon I was out to lunch.................with Derek Reaban and his wife.
Derek took a lesson with Dave Krauss, I am sure he will tell us about it.

It is great to meet the special people from TM.
Derek's list of trumpet sections is a invaluable addition to the trumpet community's reference data.
There is so much more information readily available today than in the days when I started out.

We swapped stories of our hometowns, trumpet stuff and got to know each other.
New York City is THE place to hang. So many things to do, and so little time to do them.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Reaban for a wonderful afternoon.

Wilmer

Derek Reaban is an unknown quantity at this point
I am so pleased that we finally got to meet! Our afternoon together was a true highlight of my trip. I have to tell you that I was somewhat “star struck” and wasn’t thinking quite as well as I should have. I had planned ahead and brought a copy of the Espressivo, Music and Life at Marlboro book that I purchased several months ago (with the picture of you and Louis Opalesky and Henry Nowak (Marlboro Trumpet Section)). I even stopped at the drug store to pick up a pen for you to sign my book. Then not only did I forget to have you sign my book, I completely forgot to take a picture of us together! I was so frustrated when I realized what I had done I rushed out of Avery Fisher hall to try and find you, but you were already gone!

The best laid plans….

I will post more “positive” stories a little bit later, but I just wanted to tell you how much it meant to me to get to spend time with you and enjoy your company.
