Joe DiMonte is on a distinguished road
Poncho's tribute to Freddie

Last evening I was at the MCG Guild here in the 'Burgh to witness Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band in action.
The gig was a barn burner and the band kicked things off with ONE MINT JULEP.
Poncho then introduced the band and paid tribute to the late great Freddie Hubbard (FH),
immediately thereafter, the band broke into 'CRISIS', a 1961 composition by FH from his album "Ready For Freddie" featuring a young Ron Blake on trumpet.
The kid was marvelous and I was very impressed with his performance, more so when he later lay down a solo on Mongo's composition titled Besame Mama.

My best to all the young turks...if it didn't happen in Pittsburgh,Pa it never happened.

KJ, in the City of Champions.
Series results to date: Penguins 2 - Flyers 1
Detroit here we come !
