![]() ![]() ![]() | A Question A friend sent me this question- "I would like to know if a brass player with an AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) has to limit his loud and high register playing?" I don't know the answer, I thought some of our board members might have some insights into the question. Thanks, Wilmer Last edited by wiseone2 : 07-01-2007 at 10:10 PM. |

| Re: A Question Hi, Does the person with the AAA have any medical limit on lifting or activities that would increase intra abdominal pressure? If the person's doctor has no concerns with it then it would seem to be okay. Personally. if I had a AAA I would need to ask myself two questions: 1) whether my altissimo playing is open enough not to dangerously increase my intra abdominal pressure beyond what my doctor recommends? 2) is altissimo playing worth the risk of developing a dissecting AAA, which is a particularly painful and abrupt way to end one's trumpet playing career and life? My thoughts, Brian R.N., BSN. |
