JunkyT will become famous soon enough
Wilmer is everywhere!

So last week I was in NYC and had the chance to meet Wilmer briefly at Iridium.

Yesterday, back home in Seattle, I went to my friend's house for a rehearsal and he was listening to the Weather Report album (on vinyl, btw!) "I Sing the Body Electric". I was diggin' the tunes and marveling at the sound the band was putting out, when I turned the record over and saw in the credits good ol' Wilmer on trumpets!

That must've been fun as your first record, if the AMG is correct.

I had recorded with Pablo Casals at the Marlboro festival long before the Weather Report dates. I did tons of uncredited studio work in Philly, pre-TSOP

If you go through your Sonny Stitt collection you will find the "Schuylkill Mauler" in the lineup. :)

The album was titled "Satan." You'll have a devil of a time finding it
I had almost forgotten about that one.

You're quite correct.
I have never seen this 1974 recording on CD and my vinyl remains in mint condition.
Apart from Garnett Brown (trombonist) in the horn section what ever happened with these Local 802 members ?
James Sedlar (trumpet);
Trombones: Harry DiVito,Wayne Andre,Alan Raph.
Clarinet: Kenneth Adama.
Flute & Piccolo: Maurice Smith ?????????????

I heard about the frequent paint peeling you conducted with your horn within Sigma Sound Studios during pre-TSOP/MFSB.

Re: Wilmer is everywhere!

I left town before Philly's Sigma Sound existed, but I did a lot of stuff in the NYC Sigma Sound. Most of the Village People recordings were done there........I think.
Frank Virture's studio at Broad and Girard was the place in the early sixties.

Wilmer,if you remember, was the NY Signa Sound studio located on 52nd Street between 6th & 7th Avenue (closer to 7th) and above Joe's Pier (formerly the Hickory House) ?
The Taft Hotel was on the 7th Avenue side.

Re: Wilmer is everywhere!

Sigma Sound was around the corner from the China Song. The Ed Sullivan Theater was down the street. The studio's main entrance was on 53rd street, just off Broadway.
Many nights we left the Song after midnight for a really late session
