Ben Zander & long line

TMers,

Those that know Ben Zander know that he's passionate on the podium and ever more so as a teacher. He's also a funny guy. Perhaps you'll enjoy this little music lesson as much as I did.

Re: Ben Zander & long line

Thanks for the link- I enjoyed his book "The art of possibility" very much. It's great reading for the beginning of the school year to get inspired. Good medicine for creative sclerosis

Re: Ben Zander & long line

Huge Zander fan here...love his Mahler recordings, and the talks he gives on each one...fabulous stuff.

His book is incredible too...I've purchased at least a dozen copies to give to friends (and I actually really hate "self-help" books...but his is so inspiring). Maybe self-help is not the right term for his book, but people initially think that when I give it to them. It's incredible.

I know several of us here on the TM had the chance to work with Zander at NEC. Very interesting guy! Thanks for posting that video.

We called him "The Commander." He's inspired a LOT of kids--his preference for playing works that required more brass players than he had meant that lots and lots of NEC kids got to go on vacation for free...
