![]() ![]() ![]() | Grammy Nominations TMers, "Simpatico" by trumpeter Brian Lynch and "Spirit Dances" by trombonist/composer Bob Brookmeyer were both recently announced as as Grammy nominees in the catagories best Latin jazz and best large group jazz respectively. I mention this here since Tom Dambly, a frequent contributor to TM, was assistant producer of Simpatico and Bob is a neighbor in New Hampshire and long time friend (we taught together in Rotterdam, Lake Placid, etc.). It's Bob's 11th nomination and would be super if he won this time -- he's fighting cancer. Nice that TM has a connection and let's watch for the results! Best, EC |

![]() | Best of luck to both fine gentlemen! I know Tom does great work (and is a great guy to boot!). I'm sorry to hear that anyone is fighting cancer, and more so one of our colleagues. My thoughts are with him and his family. |

![]() | Yes, best wishes to Bob! I had the pleasure of hearing Brian Lynch perform this last Sunday in an evening concert at the Yamaha Day of Trumpets in New York City. What a truly exciting performer! It is amazing that I got to hear him perform selections from his Grammy nominated "Simpatico" recording! Wishing the best for Brian, too! Janell

![]() ![]() ![]() | Janell, I haven't heard Brian play live yet but his CD is terrific and very well recorded (cue offstage Dambly bow). For those of you who are interested, Phil Woods is in the band as well. Fingers crossed for both Brian and Bob, EC |
