![]() | Joyce Hatto TMers, I've been following the story of Joyce Hatto carefully for the past three months or so. If you aren't familiar, click http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18754294...wsweek/page/0/ On a related note, have any of you heard my recording of "In a Silent Way"? Discuss amongst yourselves, EC |

![]() | Re: Joyce Hatto Richard, The sad thing is that this case shines a bright light on the inclination of some to cut corners, to imitate, and to even to usurp other's intellectual rights, instead of creating original art. I feel sorry for the poor woman and wonder when, if ever, she got sucked into her husband's scheme? Best, EC |

| Re: Joyce Hatto The most interesting thing it has shown up is how much Frasier Crane many of the classical music fraternity are. They will not pay the time of day to a recording by a lesser artist, but when it was passed off as by someone else who was getting rave reviews they were falling over themselves to praise it. Now instead of eating humble pie they are outraged at being "conned" as they see it as if the recordings now have no merit. |

| Re: Joyce Hatto Given the current level of technology I wonder when this type of deception will become a trend? It also seems that it took technology to catch the fraud and not 'experts'...mmm. Regards, Trevor |

![]() | Re: Joyce Hatto Trevor, "The Hatto Incident" (coming soon to paperback) has caused me to wonder how much of this has been going on over the past twenty years of digital recording: a little cadence here, a little high note there (think of it as a musical facelift -- sound engineers advertising in LA Weekly on the same page as "doctors" offering breast implants? A groth industry in music? Imagine the possibilities). All kidding aside I do remember one of my teachers pulling out his piccolo trumpet for the endings on his very well thought of recording of works for solo cornet. An analog foreshadow? Cheers, mate EC |
