| Langlais Information Mr. Carroll, I am performing Jean Langlais's Piece Pour Trompette in the fall. I was wondering if you had any information about the piece and also any thought on where to find a recording o it as well. I know that the Sonatine is more common, but the organist picked the piece. Thanks Matt Frederick |

![]() | Matt, Sorry about the delay in responding. I'm not familiar with any of the music of Jean Langlais, although I believe that he was a blind organist (?) Think of the organist's art of improvisation (Messiaen and Eben come quickly to mind) and frame the piece in this fashion? Again, just a guess. . . I'm not familiar with it. Best, EC |

| That is pretty much my idea on that piece as well. He was a blind organist and the piece goes from predictable patterns to very random clusters, back and forth. It is noted in the score that it is for trumpet, flute, or oboe, so I am curious if some of the more extreme upper register passages could be taken down into the more usable range of the horn? Thanks, Matt |

| Mezzo Forte User | I do not know the piece but there is a recording you can find on google or click the link http://www.france-orgue.fr/disque/in...r%E9%20JOLIVET or http://www.discantica.it/5_output_sc...=3279791802033. The send one has David Guerrier on the trumpet...hope is the same piece. Nick |

| Mezzo Forte User | link Guerrier The second link with the Guerrier's recording of Langlais Piece is not working as I thought it would...You should put in the search box Piece pour trompette and it is comming out. The piece may not be the same as it is called Piece pour trompette et Piano. Good Luck. |
