Most Important Thing to Learn as a DMA Student

Hands down--solfeggto--or what is known in the states as site singing.

why?

cause if you don*t get some great playing gig and wind up at a U. thats going to be in your load the first year--maybe the second. unless you ve got a gazzioln trpt students but they will make you teach something like that like it or not--and in many ways, its a test fro you--can yuo play ball with the faculty (read+will they vote you reneaual, tenure)

now i know yr all working on yr lecture/recitals and trying to unseat CM from Chicago or at least get on the sub list at the Lyric but if you don`t do that and our lucky enough to get a u. gig its going to be there. and if not--something like it--like the history of western music to non-majors or majors--no difference.

if yr lucky, you might get to teach set-theory or non-western music.

thats why they make you take those pesky theory/lit exams.

Best,

Mike

Yes, it is--if you write in the solf. under the notes.

Then, dear friend, it`s *site singing* and not *sight singing*!!!!!!
