Multimedia trumpet courses/approach/methods

Ed,

I was not sure where to post that, so after the threads about audition exceprts, chamber and solo repertoire your forum seemed to me the most logical place, considering that you have an active teaching trumpet carrier = great deal of experience.

So far I came accross two trumpet multimedia courses one of which I have and the second which I consider purchasing...

Playing Trumpet: Multimedia foundation Trumpet Course.
Comments made by Anthony Parsons and peices played by Rod Franks. Personally, I think that this is a great ressource for beginners, though as the author is insisting on, it can't substitute the teacher. It used to be sold on the internet but it is not available anymore.

Jean MICHEL-NOUVELLE METHODE de TROMPETTE PICCOLO
Piccolo trumpet method
sur Cd-rom
Probably available only in french. I would like to hear if anyone has this CD-ROM and can share some thoughts.

Any other multimedia courses?

Re: Multimedia trumpet courses/approach/methods

Nick,

I use Jim Thompson's Buzzing Basics and the new Jimmy Stamp book (both published by BIM and include CD accompaniments, the latter by Tom Stevens) in my studios but am unaware of the two books that you mention.

I received notice over the weekend that Rob McGregor (Balquidder Music) has just published Bel Canto Studies by John Korak and I perhaps I'll say something about it here after my copy arrives. It apparently includes a Smartmusic file that plays accompaniments for those who have that program installed.

Mouse poised,
EC

Re: Multimedia trumpet courses/approach/methods

I actually meant methods including video demonstraions...I know quite of few books having play alongs like Jim Thompson's which is a very good tool, but mainly my interest is for really multimedia (not only audio but video as well). As far as approach to teaching is concerned it seems very useful (but expensive to me for the moment) to record lessons on video both for the teacher's record and pupil's instruction...
