Stanko and Dejohnette

One of the greatest vids I've seen in a long time. Totally creative, burning, musical, and groovin at the same time. Wow! There are still many creative improvisers still out there!

Re: Stanko and Dejohnette

Trent,

Thanks for finding this for us and I agree. I discovered Tomasz years ago when my old Interlochen Arts Academyl friend Mickey Makarski started recording with him on ECM http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/...20Makarski.htm

TMers, check this guy out.

Best,
EC

Re: Stanko and Dejohnette

I saw both of Stanko's shows in Boston over the past several years (both at Regattabar) and he's a great player. I've got most of his albums and they are highly recommended.

Re: Stanko and Dejohnette

I'll have to check it out. Can't play it here at work.
Certainly Jack Dejohnette is one of the best drummers ever.

Re: Stanko and Dejohnette

I started listening to Tomasz Stanko just a few weeks ago - WOW, a revelation! I've become kind of obsessed with his sound. Its hard to explain, there is an energy in the tone that is really appealing. And his improvisation ideas are really fresh and interesting.

Suspended Night is an exceptional album...

Yeah, the quality of his work goes back to the first album I heard by him, which is on ECM and is called 'Balladyna'. It's from the late 70's...
