![]() | Trumpet and Chamber Orchestra Advice I have been asked to perform a solo with a chamber orchestra in a few months. Are there any new pieces or pieces that need to be heard more that I should look into? I am up for anything. I have done Haydn, Hummel and Neruda before so i am looking for something diferent if possible. Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt Frederick

| Piano User | If you're up for it, I would recommend the Concerto for Trumpet and Chamber Orchestra by Gunther Schuller. It's incredibly difficult but definitely a piece that deserves more recognition. |

![]() | I had not thought about the Schuller, that is one that I had not thought of. I would like it to be something different and that would certainly fit the bill! Thanks for the sugestions. How large is the chamber orchestra on the Schuller? Thanks, Matt

| Piano User | Another phenomenal is piece is the Concerto Piccolo on B-A-C-H by Arvo Part. It might be a bit shorter than what you're looking for. |

![]() | I don't know that one at all, can you describe it a little? Thanks, Matt

| Piano User | It's based on Pärt's "Collage uber B-A-C-H" and it's for Trumpet, Strings, Piano, and Harpsichord. I have yet to find an edition for trumpet and piano but I got the score and I'm working on one myself. If you go to Hakan Hardenberger's site you can listen to it on the "Radio Hakan." |

![]() | I'm going to move this into Ed Carroll's forum. He's great with suggestions about this sort of thing. ML |
