![]() | Re: Why music? Why trumpet? What I´m hearing in this thread is true love! That includes obsession, challenge, physicality, doubt, intrigue, and all the other emotions that go along with it. Don´t look to the judgers, look to yourself, and along with playing for the institutions, open yourself up to wondrous possibilities and sing through the horn! Listen to everyone. The best players are also virtuoso listeners (Marcus is a great example).

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Why music? Why trumpet? I started in the school band. When I got good enough to make music I loved the feeling. I am a part time player so it doesn't happen all the time but, when I have one of those moments where it all comes together and I get to really make music; that's what keeps me playing.

![]() | Re: Why music? Why trumpet? For me, i took up music as a way to relax myself because the beginning of my life was horrible, confusing, and down right depressing, but through music i got to release all those emotions, and then I asked for a trumpet when I was six, and although i only could play a single note, i loved the sound it made. Then when I really started getting good last year, it became a stress reliever, a story teller, and an absolute joy to play. I loved the ability to play your emotions out in the instrument, and also the ability to make good quality, pretty notes for some reason made me happy. I didn't even need a melody, just long notes with vibrato, makes me enjoy the instrument even more. The way a trumpet sings is why i play trumpet, the sound can't be more gorgeous.

![]() ![]() | Re: Why music? Why trumpet? Music has biological (neurological) implications that we are just beginning to understand from a scientific standpoint. Of course, Moms every since Eve know the powerful effect of a soft song to a crying baby. Music heals. We are hardwired to like pleasant sounds. Why the trumpet? Well duh! Its God's own instrument. |
