![]() | Re: Ahoy From Melbourne Australia Indeed, I forgot to do the whole speel... I've been playing for 23 years, started in a brass bands (English style), before getting into Jazz, pop and eventually reggae. Did a degree in Improvisation at VCA in 1997 and since then have been playing around the Melbourne jazz scene. Been touring a lot in a reggae/funk originals band for the past few years as well as tarting myself out in the studio and with touring bands etc etc. Currently I'm playing a Kanstul Chicago Laquerless with a Kanstul B1X mouthpiece and a #3 Backbore. ![]() | Re: Ahoy From Melbourne Australia Hey, Funny, you don't sound Australian.... At least when I read it...... How do you like the Kanstul? I have yet to play one, but I have heard they play nice... Mario

![]() | Re: Ahoy From Melbourne Australia Wow, Ta for the replies people. Howdy tatakata. Indeed I do love my Chicago Mario, it's the 1001 in raw brass, speaks really well and intonation is excellent. Has a couple of foibles that annoy though. The second valve slide faces towards the bell, that's fine untill you get water build up and you have to invert the horn before you can run it out the 3rd slide (no 3rd water key either). Also, allthough it projects like crazy it seems like hard work to get it to mellow down for me, that's probably just me though. Ahoy OZboy, you a Syndey-sider then? Yes I know Vinchenzo very well. We play about 2 to 4 gigs together most months, love his tastefull and melodic playing very much indeed. He knows soooo many songs and arrangements, encyclopaedic recall, nice fella too, he'll be chuffed to be asked after. Hey ho how long have you been in preston Gianni? I thought you were over near me and Vin for some reason. Playing's going great and I'm starting to be able to listen to live recordings without cringing all the time so either I'm de-sensitized or I'm finding my voice (pun intended :)). Are there any other melbournites here? Eugene? Eamon? Spence? Tinkler? Cheers for the replies guys. Paul

![]() | Re: Ahoy From Melbourne Australia I worked with Vinnie about 20 years ago. He had an insane Miles Davis collection (about 100 albums). Tell him Tim said hello. I met this cool old, hippi lady. She heard me playing and asked for my address. She said my playing reminded her of a trumpet player she once knew and she wanted to send me a little something. Turned out that she was Miles' personal photographer. She sent me some photos that were on a film that had never been developed. Tell Vinnie. He'll be green with envy. |
