| New Friend | Another trumpeter Hello, my name is Tyler Loveless (hence my username). I play sophmore trumpet in High School. I've been looking all over the place for a place to talk to with fellow trumpet players my age. I've always to do that but I can never seem to find the right place. Hopefully I can find that this is that place. Loveless |

| Tyler, welcome. Not sure if you'll find too many folks your age, but you shouldn't let that keep you from asking questions and learning from the folks in this community. There is a wealth of experience from folks far and wide. I'm a Cincinnati native too. My sophmore year of highschool is a distant memory. Did your band play in Roger Bacon's Band invitational this year. I took my 3 daughters to see the contest. I think that one of the bands was from Batavia. Good luck with your trumpet playing. I'm currently teaching 2 of my daughters how to play. They're ages 6 and 9. The 9 year old seems to have a good ear, she's able to make minor adjustments to match my pitch (and she only knows 3 notes so far C,D and E). They have trouble holding the horn up after a while. | New Friend | Yes, actually we did play at Roger Bacon. We thought we got cheated out of out actuall score. But yes we did play. What I'm currently bent on learing is Triple/Double Tounging. Any ideas on how I could get better at it. I can do it very very very slowly on the trumpet....I just want to know how long I should practice it every day to get better. |
