Back to the trumpet after 40 yrs.

Just a quick hello. I'm 56 and returning to the trumpet after an absence of 40 years. I quit the coronet in 1968 when my band director moved me to trombone. I'm now re-learning to play both... for the fun of it.

I recently purchased a Blessing Intermediate XL-TR with a 3C mpc and I'm working on scales and beginner books and trying to get my range up past middle C. My challenge is to practice both the trombone and trumpet each day and keep both embrochure's strong And I LOVE it!

Best of luck, you may want to look for a brass teacher.

Welcome back. Re-learning trumpet and trombone is quite a challenge... I teach both and I always find myself calling 1st position "open" and getting crazy looks from my students...

Re: Back to the trumpet after 40 yrs.

Thanks everyone for the nice thoughts! I'm up to "E" above middle "C" and gaining! I switched to a Bach 1-1/2C mpc and I like the sound.

"burgerbob" - yes I have a Blessing B78 with F attachment trombone.
