couesnon flugel

Just wondered if anybody can give some advice on buying a Couesnon flugelhorn? Which series are good, which ones should be avoided? Where to search for an instrument? Prices?

Thanks!

Re: couesnon flugel

I have one that my dad bought me when I was a kid.
LUCKILY I still have it. I have always loved it but didn't know that anyone else did until a couple of years ago.

Anyway...Mine is late 60's-1970 not sure...It isn't particularly well built and intonation has always been sketchy but it sounds great.
I just sent mine off for a setup, valve alignment and had a 3rd Valve trigger added so I think it will be better soon.

I think there is one for sale here on the Classifieds right now.
I have never heard about any that are to be avoided but your best advice would be to buy one that you can try out for yourself.
Next best is to buy with a return policy.
Also if you can buy from someone with a trusted opinion.
