| Could you kindly direct me to the bar? Hi all. I am an Australian (kangaroo land, just before Antarctica) trumpet owner who has been hiding on stage behind real musicians for long enough to regret not practicing harder in school. I have been reading the forums here for quite some time and have now decided to become more involved. Hello. I would prefer to delay the inevitable 'shop talk' and instead tell you a little story that goes nowhere; Once I caught a plane all the way to New York via Singapore and Frankfurt, (That's right; the wrong way around the globe. I suspect the pilot had been drinking) where I had the chance to finally hear the Vanguard Orchestra. No comment needed there. Later that week I was on the street at 2 AM in the light snow outside a club in the Village, which name had something to do with "cat" and it had ping pong tables and a small jazz lounge with random books in the shelves covering the walls. Anyway, getting back to the story, an unfortunate woman, who must have been 40 or so, asked very gently for a dollar "for a slice of pizza" and then she sang this beautiful arpeggio for just a moment. It was remarkable and I can still hear her in my mind today. End story Cheers, Burke |
