G'day from Tasmania, Australia - After 36 Years, my lips are raw!

G'day all I learnt to play second cornet in the local Salvation Army YP Band from the age of 9-15 years, gave up brassin pref. for drums (because my Dad woudn't let me learn trombone!) and have not picked up a brass instrument since.I recently turned 51 and our son had a trumpet that he was not currently playing so I asked if I could borrow it.After a couple of weeks, I was having so much fun, (even with raw lips!!), I found and purchased on ebay a Bach TR200.It blew me away but I very quickly found that it just wasn’t up to what I wanted from it. I spent some time surfingthe various trumpet forums etc. and most players bang on (a drummer’s term) about the Bach Stradivarius.I looked into their pricing and knew there was no way I could afford that and one day I came across the following articleon the Bach Omega -- Bach Omega Trumpets - The Affordable Bach Stradivarius ?? | Trumpet4u.com - Used Trumpets, New Trumpets, Reconditioned Trumpets -- So I started looking for one as I considered it might be the best way to go. Found a good serial number on ebay(of course) and purchased it. (US $700 including air freight from UK to Australia) I have actually stretched our finances a fair bit to get it (don't tell the missus) but after playing it, I’m so wrapped with my purchase I don’t believe I need to even consider a Strad! (well not yet anyway).

DON'T KNOW WHY I EVER GAVE IT UP!?

Looking forward to bending the neighbour's eardrums!

Very welcome to TM, m_f!

There are a lot of comebackers in here that
can´t understand why they ever gave up
playing, so you´re in very good company!

In fact, we´re the largest group in here!

Hey Mr Phonebone - welcome to TM - these folks are just so much fun, clever, informative, generous and often quite focussed. A question if I may, why not try a 'bone instead of the trumpet (nice start BTW)?
