| New Friend | Greetings Hello trumpetmaster community. My name is Roger Umana Jr, 27, and I hail from Miami Florida. I play trumpet in the south fla area and do studio work in the area as well. Here to meet new folks and for trumpet chat. I currently play with the ed calle fuego caliente orchestra where I play lead trumpet from time to time. I'm a maynard ferguson fan and love all genre's of trumpet but love the high note stuff and play it on a frequent basis.I also love classical trumpet and hakan hardenburger.....he's great. Well I hope to meet trumpet players from other walks..this a great website. |

I wish everyone could hear Maynard's clinics and concert from the 1973 National Trumpet Symposium, when he demonstrated the most ridiculously powerful trills and slurred up to a Triple C at the *end* of a 2-hour concert. I think Mr. Kevin Sealy has some recordings of it all? I lost my tapes of it 30 years ago and wish I could replace them Do you have Bill Chase' second album, "Ennea"? At the end he plays a very long and pwerful Double C that is unbelievable. (But I also love his flugel work on "Twinkles" from his third album.) At the other end of the spectrum: Jon Hassell playing a haunting version of "Nature Boy". It sounds more like a huge flute than a trumpet, but I love it. - Morris
