Brassmonkey will become famous soon enough
Greetings to All

My name is Roland and I live in east central Florida.(Near Daytona Beach). I'm a music educator in the public schools and try to pick up as much playing work as I can. Unfortunately there's not a lot happening so I don't play as much as I would like. I do play regularly with a local church orchestra and am the director of their church "conservatory". I did the "theme park shuffle" in Orlando in the 80's but got married and ended up having to get a "real" job. It's ok though, I like the teaching gig just fine.

I do have a question for the masses though. Since getting involved with church gigs in the area (more weddings too), I find the need for a piccolo trumpet more and more. Borrowed a friends Selmer recently and remembered how much fun they were to play. Problem is I have a pretty limited budget. Ebay has a couple of Selmers and a Kanstul that seem to be within my budget right now. Not ever having played one on a real regular basis, is there a particular product I should be looking for? I like my friend's Selmer but......I guess I'm just curious.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, Roland and welcome to a fellow educator! It's been a long time since I was in the market for a picc, so I don't have much recent experience. Yamaha has always been a good bet for the dollar. Consistent, predictable, reliable and affordable. I think there might be a few piccs listed in the ads here, too.
