Greetings from Canada

I'm new to TrumpetMaster community.
I've been very fortunate to have studied and worked with some great teachers and players over the years. Vincent Cichowicz, Dominic Spera, Allen Vizzutti. A couple of months ago we had Jens Lindemann in to perform with my community band (I conducted the band). Jens also performed with my Brass quintet - what a kick that was!
Next week I'm going to trumpet camp with Ron Romm as the headliner.
In addition to brass quintet, I also play with our a disco/funk band band, our local big band, various pit orchestras, occasionaly our symphony.

All the best

Re: Greetings from Canada

Hello All

Thanks for the words of welcome!

I just got back from a 4 day trumpet master class with Ron Romm (founding member of the Canadian Brass). It was terrific. Ron is an amazing performer and an extremely kind and positive teacher. He was able to bring out the best in all of us.
The great trumpet playing, and talks and demonstrations would have been plenty to make it a great master class, but what made it extra special was Avis Romm - Ron's wife and collaborator. She also has a towering musical talent (piano). She performed with Ron and collaborated (accompanied)all of us as we played for Ron. She did it with such grace and style and generosity of spirit. We all were enriched far beyond the music.
For all musicians - not just trumpet players - don't miss an opportunity to hear Ron and Avis Romm perform or present a master class.
Check their website Welcome to MusicRomm.com

All the best

Re: Greetings from Canada

Ronnie is great, but I don't think he is a founding member of CB. He told me he started the second year - I think Mills started the year after.

Re: Greetings from Canada

Hello
I've heared recordings of the CB prior to Ron & Fred. I wonder if this group was experimental and not intended to be a long term ensemble.
Ron stated during his recital, on his website, and recent recordings that he is a founding member of CB

Thanks

Happy Canuck is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Greetings from Canada

Hate to disagree with Ron but from the CB website they started with Stuart Laughton and a fellow named Phillips. Ron started in 1971 and Fred in 1972.

Canadian Brass Time Table

By the way, Jeff Nelson just returned on horn and they have a new trumpet player, Manon Lafrance, their first female member!
