Greetings from Florida...and sometimes New Orleans

Well hello there.

I have been a member of TH for a while, mostly just lurking. I am 17 and am now a high school senior. I used to live in New Orleans but since Katrina I have lived in Daytona Beach area in Florida. Off and on I take lessons from Pete Waidelich. Half hour lessons turn into two hour lessons sometimes if he doesn't have anything else to do, he is a great teacher. I am a senior here in Florida, and I am in Jazz band, symphonic band, and marching band. What is driving me to practice and become a better player now is our trip to China (yes, China) next year which is for our first jazz band. It is going to be amazing. I am actually getting better opportunities in Florida than I was in New Orleans. Part of that is becoming older and being able to drive, but I did not get any jazz exposure at my school in New Orleans...yes...strange.

Both of our jazz bands got straight superiors at state festival, and so did our symphonic band (we also have a concert band which is the starter/beginner band). The hurricane blew me into an amazing band program. I just happened to get lucky.

Now for the interesting part
Horns:
Trumpet:
Bach Strad 43 (lacquer...I want it that way too)
"Cornet":
Conn Connstellation 38A (I think...it is the cornet that looks like a trumpet, it is really my Dads horn which has had since it was new)
Flugel:
YFH 631 (school horn)

Mouthpieces:
Trumpet:
Bach 3C, Bach 3D, GR G66** (I actually got the GR today, I like it. It will replace the 3D completely when/if I get used to it)
Cornet:
Bach 3B
Flugel:
Yamaha 16F4

I'll be looking forward to Laras e-brownies

Hi CRoberts8,

Welcome from NY. I've been to Daytona many times, used to go every year for Speedweek in Feb. Good time of year to be out of NY. Your trip to China sounds really exciting and should been a Great experience for you. Good luck with your bands and enjoy your trip to China.

Kim

Welcome,

Sorry you; as so many people were displaced by Katrina!

It looks like you've done a fine job of keeping yourself on track.

This is a great resource I'm sure you'll find it most helpful.

Welcome, CRoberts8!

You'll always be "home" with your trumpet!

I sense a G66*** and a G66 FL in your future.

Cheers!
Bruce
